Lounge Z is the meeting place for the residential community in the wooden high-rise by Boltshauser Architekten on the Zwhatt site. A two-storey space with a spiral staircase, oak beams, and burgundy metal frames. Here, people meet spontaneously, eat together, do laundry, read, or play. We rethought it for Pensimo, featuring furniture that we developed ourselves from the simplest materials.
Encounter at airy heights.
Brick, plywood, strap.
Sustainability in design often seems accidental and cluttered. We wanted the opposite: humble materials that gain value through precise joining. Rammed earth bricks, plywood, and industrial nylon straps become shelving, a sideboard, a coffee table, and a high table for the laundry room. Discarded magazines and books, pressed and bound, become mobile stools.
The straps remain visible. Binding here is not merely construction; it becomes the language of the space.

Just borrowed.
No glue, no nails, no toxic substances. The furniture is built for disassembly: whoever loosens the straps is left holding bricks, panels, and bands again—intact and ready for the next configuration, for recycling, or for returning to the earth. Residents and management can do this themselves at any time.
To prevent the space from feeling improvised, a few carefully selected pieces give it structure: a modular sofa on castors, soft armchairs, an extendable dining table, and terracotta planters. Raw texture and homeliness balance each other out.

Listening is our first draft.
Every project begins with a conversation. Tell us what you have in mind: a new working environment, a restaurant, a space for the future. We bring an open mind, curiosity, and experience in strategy, interior design, and lighting. We'd love to meet at our studio on Gutstrasse in Zurich. Or wherever your project is coming to life.
