SZU takes people to work, shopping, and out into the countryside by train, bus, and cable car. With the SZU_4.0 program, it is growing: passenger numbers are set to double by 2050. In Adliswil, we are planning and realizing a new sales outlet that demonstrates what the brand stands for: reliable in everyday life, inviting for excursions.
A bond that holds everything together.
Understand first, then draw.
Before drawing the first line, we wanted to know who the SZU is. What do they sell today, what tomorrow? Are tickets and travelcards the main focus, or the experience? And who walks through the door: commuters, families, day-trippers, guests from out of town? The concept and character of the space emerged from these answers. A wooden wall features the railway's route network, while a continuous band connects ticket machines, brochures, customer advice, and service counters. Anyone who enters can see at a glance where the journey leads.

Small, but for everyone.
Covering around 65 m², the shop, back office, and staff area share the space within a long, narrow floor plan. Instead of dividing it up with walls, we structure it using the wall itself: its unfolding design, featuring niches and geometric shapes, encloses the space, creates compressions and openings, and thus suggests zones without closing them off. The ceiling and accented lighting continue this layout, giving each area its own weight.
You enter the shop barrier-free; quick inquiries are handled at the high table, while for longer consultations there is a wheelchair-accessible counter with seating. Behind it lies the back office, equipped with a kitchenette and two workstations. The quality of the environment is intended to be just right for everyone: for the customers planning their next trip here, and for the team working here every day.

Listening is our first draft.
Every project begins with a conversation. Tell us what you have in mind: a new working environment, a restaurant, a space for the future. We bring an open mind, curiosity, and experience in strategy, interior design, and lighting. We'd love to meet at our studio on Gutstrasse in Zurich. Or wherever your project is coming to life.
